Introduction to Buddhist Meditation with Derek Murray

Saturday 9th April, 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This workshop is suitable for anyone new to Buddhist meditation, or anyone who has done a course in mindfulness and wishes to take it further. It will be a day introducing the various approaches to meditation that are used in Buddhism. Starting with simple mindfulness we will explore how to develop a formal meditation practice and the postures and techniques that can be used for sitting meditation as well as walking meditation. There will be discussion of the Buddhist theory and philosophy that underlies the practice. Later in the day other Buddhist meditation approaches, which aim to develop insight, and qualities such as loving-kindness, will be introduced.

Please bring a dish to contribute to a shared vegetarian lunch, (anything will do, cooked dishes can be warmed).
