Afternoon of Meditation and Reflection

With Heike Griffin & Padraig Cotter

Every Wednesday 29th April 2.30 - 5.30pm

The way of insight meditation involves attending to and reflecting on experience in ways that release the heart and mind from suffering.

After an introductory reflection on a particular aspect of insight meditation there will then be the opportunity to practice with that aspect. There will be periods of meditation with instructions based on that reflection, followed by opportunities for questions and discussion.

Heike Griffin

was born in Germany and has been on the board of Sunyata Buddhist Centre since 2014. She has been meditating for nearly 30 years, the last 10 years in the Thai Forest tradition. Since 2018 Heike has been teaching retreats and workshops at Sunyata.

Pádraig Cotter has been interested in spirituality from an early age, an interest which deepened almost twenty years ago when he encountered the practice of meditation. He has since practiced in many traditions but mostly in the Insight Meditation & Thai Forest traditions through which he came across Teach na Tuisceana and Sunyata Buddhist Centre. He has been a volunteer at Sunyata for the last ten years and started to lead retreats and workshops in 2015. When leading workshops and retreats his main interest is in shedding light upon how the fetter of self-view comes to obstruct our liberation and burden us with a sense of incessant seeking. He emphasises meditation as more of an attitude or orientation towards peace rather than a method to attain or achieve peace.
